Stuck in-between clubs?
With only three clubs available in tomorrow's competition we need to get ready for the "in-between" yardage situation. I have couple of tips which will keep your approach to creating variable distances simple and reliable.
1. Grip down
By holding down on the grip, by say one inch, and making a normal swing you can reliably reduce the distance by one club. If you hold down even further and the change could be a two or three club reduction.
2. Shorten the backswing
If your preference is not to grip down, varying the length of your backswing will work really well. Shortening the backswing is often easier said than done! However if you discourage body rotation on the backswing, a shorter swing is made much easier allowing a natural acceleration into the ball and a normal follow through.
I am very much looking forward to taking part tomorrow and feel very fortunate to be part of the very experienced team of Peter Walton, Richard Cockroft and Julian Byng. Good luck to everyone playing.
