Such a perfect day...
The inevitable has finally happened! Nearly man, Jason Day, has finally become a Major champion with his three-shot victory at Whistling Straits - and in what fine style he did it, too. Day finished with a 67 to record a 20-under-par total at the USPGA, in the process breaking the record for the lowest total score at one of golf's big four.
One of Day's biggest attributes week-in, week-out is his driving ability. Not only is he deceivingly long off the tee, but he finds the fairway with comparative ease. Take last week for example; Day drove the ball an average of 307 yards and found the fairway 73% of the time.
This year I have been custom fitting drivers for Titleist, Yonex and Callaway and I have noticed how the design emphasis has moved slightly away from more distance in favour of more accuracy. Although having said that, my new Callaway XR Pro runs further any driver I have ever used before. More on the XR model from Callaway can be seen in the article below.
If you would like to try out a demo club on the course or perhaps book a club fitting session, please let me or one of my assistants know. Get in touch here.
