Good morning golfers,
Good luck to everyone playing in the Angela Uzielli competition on Saturday and the Gentlemen's Summer Meeting on Sunday. Srixon are supporting our event on Sunday by giving away a sleeve of their very best golf balls free of charge to all the competitors playing in the Summer Meeting.
If you don't already own a measuring device, please note that I have the full range of GolfBuddy products available to demo this weekend. Have a read of the details below and print off your voucher using the link supplied.
Both courses will be closed until 4.30pm on Sunday, 7 June for the Gentlemen's Summer Meeting.
Both courses will also be closed on Monday, 8 June for The Tassie. The Gentlemen's Changing Rooms will be used by the ladies taking part in this competition so will be closed to Gentlemen members.
Find the fairway every time
Now doesn't that sound nice! Prior to the Irish Open one commentator remarked: "Anyone who's not driving the ball well this week can forget about winning." How true. On some courses you may be able to get away with it but not at Royal County Down, especially when it's wet and windy.
Yes, holing putts is important and being able to drive the ball a mile will help, but isn't the game a lot easier when you're playing the game from the fairways?
My tip for this weekend is if you don't need a long drive, play for the easy to hit part of the fairway. And if you can't reach the green with your approach shot, play well short of the green as to keep the bunkers out of play.
