Julian Hill does The Berkshire proud

Well done to our very own Julian Hill for finishing 11th in the Hong Kong 2017 Senior Open Championship last week. Julian played very well in the third round, as you can see in the pic below he was at the top of the leaderboard, and was in contention to win for a considerable amount of the final day, playing on the challenging Hong Kong Golf Club course.

40 years later…

If someone were to ask you to name the first caddie that popped into your head – or the name of any caddie for that matter – our money is on Steve Williams. Are we right?

It’s not surprising given the fact he was on the bag of a certain Tiger Woods during his supreme dominance between 1999 and 2011, not to mention winning the Masters again with Adam Scott thereafter. Well, in a recent interview, the New Zealander confirmed that he “absolutely” plans to stop caddying in 2018, rounding off a fruitful 40-year career at the top of the game.

This makes us wonder: How important do you think a caddie is? How influential is a caddie on a professional’s ability to play their best golf?

Is 'ready golf' the way forward?

Earlier this year the R&A and USGA released a proposed set of rules changes in an effort to bring the rulebook up to date. This week we’re going to look at one of the modifications that has been proposed to help improve our pace of play.

Why change?
The time it takes to play 18 holes is a hot topic and it’s one of the primary reasons many people give as to why they don’t play as much or even at all. Let’s face it, nobody wants a long round, so anything that promotes faster golf is surely a positive?

Try ready golf
‘Ready golf’ is something many of you will already do during social games. It is when a player plays out of turn in stroke play because they’re ready and it's safe to hit, rather than wait longer to play in turn. This will be actively encouraged during competitions in the new rulebook. We think it’s a good idea, do you agree?
